Ariel O. Blakey is a sophomore, Psychology major, Spanish and Public Policy double minor at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. Ariel has conducted research at Emory University on serotonin transporter associations with suicide attempts in women and at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on clinical trial enrollment. Currently, she is working under the mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Andrews-McClymont at Morehouse College. Their research examines birth narratives and associated psychosocial outcomes related to well-being in college students at Morehouse College and Spelman College. Though interested in psychology as a whole, Ariel’s passion lies in understanding psychological implications of genetic disorders and genetic contributions to pediatric psychological disorders to aid minorities with highly stigmatized disorders. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a clinical PhD. in Child/Adolescent Psychology with an emphasis in Genetic Psychology.
